Barbara Fisher came to the Knight Music Studios a little over one year ago equipped to share a colorful musical history. She started out in classical music studies and graduated with Grade 9 Royal Conservatory Piano. While attending Malaspina University in Jazz studies she took voice lessons, piano, composition, improvisation, arrangement, and won a scholarship to the Banff School of Fine Arts. There she studied with the Phil Nimmons 9 plus 6 Band and Big Miller. She was awarded a grant for Young Composers of Canada, was a Juno Nominee, and has recorded 2 albums.
She has had extensive work abroad; 6 months in Annecy, France; 7months in Frankfurt, Germany, as well as dates in London, Montreal, Washington State, Edmonton and of course years performing in clubs and venues in Vancouver. She is an experienced teacher in voice, piano, special needs students and choir. Her talents and love of music speak for themselves as does the joy she brings to teaching students of all ages.
